Sasol donates $ 1 million to the Port of Wonders

Sasol announced yesterday that they will donate $ 1 million to the new Lake Charles STEM Children’s Museum and Nature Center in Port Wonder.

The Port of Wonders will include a new Lake Charles Children’s Museum and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Science Center and Educational Complex. This new site will combine education and entertainment with a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). It will be between the alligator pond and the parking garage on the beach.

Brad Griffith, executive vice president of Sasol’s global chemicals business, said in a press release:

Sasol is proud to be a partner in this public-private collaboration that will be an exciting addition to southwest Louisiana, a place where our employees call their home, a place where Sasol calls their home and hopes to do this for a long time.

This is the largest contribution from Sasol to any American community to date. The company also said it is focused on investing in STEM education in SWLA to help create and develop the future workforce in the area.

They have contributed over $ 7 million to community projects addressing STEM education and business development, according to Sasol.
