There’s a snazzy and revitalized event venue in town, San Antonio, and that’s enough cause for one heck of a celebration. The Espee, the nightlife hub in the heart of St. Paul Square, is taking pride in being San Antonio’s newest outdoor performance and special event venue as well as renovations recently completed at the space.

Located at 1174 E. Commerce St., San Antonio, TX 78205, the Espee is now part of the Ambassador Theater Group, also the operator of the Majestic and Empire theaters. The Espee, formerly known as Sunset Station, first began to come into fruition in 2021 in a move meant to revitalize San Antonio’s nightlife scene. The venue, which has a capacity of 3,175 people, is now ready to welcome guests to enjoy renovations including sound, lighting, bar areas throughout the space, enhanced landscaping, and upgraded restrooms, according to a news release.

The venue’s name is an homage to the Southern Pacific Railroad Network (known better as SP) and the space’s history as the city’s first train station.

“The Espee is the perfect addition to San Antonio’s growing entertainment landscape–from venues and musical performances to community gatherings and everything in between,” said ATG general manager Emily Smith in a press release. “This unique, beautiful and historic space will bring even more creative experiences to San Antonio for the entire community to enjoy.”

San Antonians will be able to see the renovations for themselves with the venue’s inaugural event, All Aboard at The Espee. Scheduled for March 4, the daylong festival will bring live music acts beginning at 3 pm to celebrate the “re-arrival” of the entertainment space. Here’s your chance to catch Latino favorite Grupo Fantasma, the funky sounds of Golden Dawn Arkestra, soul singer Danielle Ponder, and more.

Tickets for All Aboard at The Espee start at $75 and go on sale Friday, February 3 at noon. A dollar from each ticket sale will go toward San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside, a nonprofit that aims to improve the quality of life for residents and businesses in the city’s Eastside.
