Often times, the funniest scenes in a given “Curb Your Enthusiasm” episode come to the end, when every thread in the episode comes together into an explosive joke. One is in the season 8 finale, “Larry vs. Michael J. Fox,” and features a young boy, Greg, the son of Larry’s current girlfriend. Larry gives Greg a sewing machine because he realizes Greg is gay and knows he loves fashion. Greg likes Susie too and uses the machine to introduce her to a pillow … with a swastika on it.
However, the funniest scene in the episode – and possibly the series – is the facility to get Greg that sewing machine. Larry mindlessly scribbles in a magazine while waiting for his girlfriend to get ready for their date. Greg introduces himself to Larry and is interested in Larry’s Doodle, which is about turning a guy in an ad into Hitler.
Greg is curious, so Larry explains in child language to Hitler what prompts Greg to declare, “I would kick his butt!” Greg also catches the swastika because of the “lines”. He asks Larry for a swastika for his birthday and says they should be sold “in every gift shop in New York”. Larry says, “I don’t think Jews would like this,” to which Greg innocently replies, “Get a life, Jews!” The sweet-faced boy, played adorably by Eddie Schweighardt, obviously doesn’t understand, and Larry’s amused reaction deepens the humor of the scene.
