Peter Andre was once “a knife pulled by the throat” while clubbing.
Peter Andre remembers being threatened with a knife Down Under
The ‘Mysterious Girl’ hitmaker has suffered from mental health problems since his late twenties when he had a “breakdown” after being bullied at school.
And later in life, after he rose to fame in the 1990s, he claimed that men in his native Australia despised him so much that if he went out he was even threatened with a gun.
In an interview with the Metro newspaper, Peter recalled: “When I was 27, I had a terrible breakdown.
“It came out of the blue and I ended up seeing therapists and taking medication.
“I think the school was bullied.
“Then I was massive as a singer in Australia, but people hated me because I was on the covers of all the magazines, so I suffered from a different type of bullying.
“I had a knife pulled from my throat in a club.”
The 48-year-old singer, who has Junior (16) and Princess (14) with former glamor model Katie Price and Amelia (7) and Theodore (5) with wife Emily MacDonagh, was not put off by past experiences Locals Down Under as he recently admitted he would like to work more in Australia.
Peter explained how he would like to spend more time with his elderly parents in Oz.
He said, “It feels like the right time because my mom [Thea] and dad [Savvas] are in their late eighties and every year is crucial now, especially when my mother is not doing well.
“I hope to get over there soon, but I know there are millions of people in the same situation and many worse.”
Peter was inspired to ponder the subject after receiving a home video clip from his sister.
He explained, “My sister Debbie sent me a video of my parents watching me and Emily being interviewed on Australian television.
“It absolutely melted my heart and made me very emotional because not seeing her in person is such a bittersweet situation. But to see that they could watch their son and it makes them proud, makes me so happy.
“It also made me think about working more in Australia.”
