Picasso Automotive announced the production version of the PS-01 concept car
The 660 LMS supercar is built on an ultralight platform made of a mix of carbon fiber and aluminum. The monocoque is completely made of structural carbon fiber and the bodywork is assembled and joined piece on piece. One piece of carbon fiber with a total length of 3.24 meters (127.55 inches) was used to build the two sinuously curved body sides. Just for reference, the car has a total length of 4.36 meters (171.65 inches). The car’s rear frame is also made from carbon fiber, and, as a result, the car’s total weight went down to just 980 kilos (2,160 pounds).
The car’s body has been designed with aerodynamics in mind. Engineers spent hours running CFD simulations and real-life wind tunnel analyzes in order to obtain the optimal downforce level. The car sits very low to the ground, the front has a large splitter, and the rear a manually adjustable wing and a rear diffuser. As a result, the supercar delivers a staggering 960 kilograms of maximum downforce at top speed (315 km/h).
The interior design is very minimalistic, yet comfortable and effective both in daily use and on the track. The cabin is trimmed in carbon fiber, the monocoque Sabelt seats feature six-point harness, and the steering wheel is also trimmed in carbon fiber. The handles are wrapped in Alcantara, and the shift paddles are made of carbon fiber. A seven-inch multifunction touch color display that displays all key information related to the driving.
The 660 LMS is powered by a dry-sump 3.0 Twin-Turbo V-6 engine that delivers a total of 660 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. The engine is supplied by Autotecnica Motori, an Italian ground-breaking company, and the 660 LMS is the first road car to have it. All the engine’s power is sent to the rear wheels via a racing-derived, six-speed sequential transmission developed by Sadev. The exhaust system – also a first for the automotive world – was designed by SC-Project, the world’s leading manufacturer of exhaust systems for road and racing motorcycles.
The 660 LMS runs on a special set of single nut multi-spoke forged wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires measuring 245/35 R19 up front and 315/30 R20 in the rear. There is also a high-performance braking system featuring monobloc aluminum Brembo six-piston calipers with a 350×34 mm disk at the front and four-piston calipers with 355×28 mm disk at the rear. The company also worked on making the 660 LMS very safe: it is the first supercar equipped with the DAI virtual sensor of Easyrain. This is a predictive system capable of recognizing the presence of dangerous wet road situations and aquaplaning conditions.
As mentioned only 21 units will be built, but Picasso Automotive is offering a special customization program that will allow customers to personalize both the interior and exterior aesthetic to a level never seen before.
