Help wanted, Lansing police station sends candidates to the police academy

Today there are so many great career opportunities that give back to people and our community. Nurses, paramedics, teachers, firefighters and of course police officers.

This was my second career choice growing up, and I even tested for some police departments in the Chicago area. My brother was a police officer at the time and told me to follow my heart and try the radio first. He laughed and said you didn’t like all the paperwork you have to do as a cop.

If you or you know anyone looking to get into law enforcement, check this out. Eaton Rapids Police are looking for candidates who will pay qualified officers to attend the police academy in the future, according to fox47news.com.

Now new to law enforcement

Police Chief Larry Weeks said the program was not new to law enforcement, it was new to the city of Eaton Rapids.

We started because, like other agencies, we are faced with the challenge of finding qualified candidates to hire, ”said Weeks. “We hope this is a new pool of applicants to look at and bring in good quality policing candidates here at Eaton Rapids.

You have 3 vacancies and a current payroll for 10 civil servants. Men and women who are hired must pass tests prescribed by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. Then I would go to the police academy.

There is paid training

You pay $ 18.33 an hour during training, and once you graduate the salary would rise to $ 20.48 an hour to start as a cop.

Eaton Rapids plans to begin receiving applications by the end of the week.
