Jets’ Denzel Mims says he lost 20 pounds to food poisoning from salmon

New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims said he recently contracted food poisoning after eating salmon, which resulted in a loss of 20 pounds. The sophomore from Baylor went from 217 to 197 pounds, but increased his weight back to 208 – and has not eaten salmon since.

Mims said he’s been working particularly hard in practice lately.

“This is what I want. This is something I made up my mind,” Mims said of Audacy.com. “You don’t have to catch extra balls, they don’t force you to catch extra balls, but I want to catch extra balls. I want extra time with the QBs, with the coaches, so I can be ready. “

Mims showed potential in 2020, but he will try to bring it all together in his sophomore year. He’ll get the passes from rookie quarterback Zach Wilson, who’ll try to build the chemistry with the 6-foot-3 wideout.
