Jimmy Rollins’ bold statement after joining Philly in ‘special’ role

The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to make some noise in the National League East in 2022. Philadelphia finished 82-80 after a late-season collapse, as they were positioned well at the top of the division before they ceded ground to the Atlanta Braves. After retooling via free agency this offseason, the Phillies are hoping for a different result in 2022. They didn’t only retool on the field, though. Philadelphia brought back former star shortstop Jimmy Rollins in a ‘special’ role. Bob Nightengale of USA Today has the latest news on Rollins.

Philadelphia #Phillies great Jimmy Rollins joins their front office as a special advisor, and says in statement: ‘The Phillies mean a great deal to me, and I’ll do whatever I can to help get this team back to where it belongs, and that’s deep in October.”

Per Nightengale, Rollins has joined the Phillies’ front office as a special adviser. The former Philadelphia shortstop spoke about joining the team once again, making a statement that will make fans very excited.

Rollins proclaimed that his goal is to “do whatever he can to help get this team back where it belongs”, which the former Phillies shortstop proclaimed is “deep in October.”

The 43-year-old knows a thing or two about advancing deep into October, as he and the Phillies made it to two World Series while winning one during his tenure in Philadelphia. Rollins reached his heights as a ball player in 2007, as he secured the NL MVP while clubbing 30 homers with 94 RBI, 39 runs scored and 41 stolen bases.

Now, Rollins will bring his valuable perspective as a former star player to the Phillies front office.
