Leeds PRYZM poll shows 94% of young people plan to go to nightclubs after Freedom Day

Research by nightclub group Rekom UK, which operates PRYZM Leeds, found that 94 percent of 18-30 year olds plan to return to nightclubs after they reopen.

Of these, more than a fifth (20.74 percent) will return as soon as possible, and more than half within a month of opening.

More than one in five respondents has never been to clubs because they were under 18 when the pandemic first closed clubs in March 2020.

PRYZM Leeds general manager Gavin McQueen said young people had been hit hard by Covid restrictions while studying or entering the job market.

He added, “Young people have spoken; It is clear that there is a huge demand for clubs that are reopening so they can have fun again after all this time.

“This is reflected in our ticket sales as we sold out many of our nights and planned additional events to meet demand.”

More than half of all respondents (51.2 percent) said they would feel comfortable going to a club that operates in accordance with government guidelines.

And 94 percent of those surveyed said they would adhere to government policies and measures if they were implemented to ensure the reopening and continued opening of nightclubs.

It comes after Rekom UK confirmed that, despite the government’s recommendation, it won’t ask for vaccine passports on its doors when it reopens venues.

Peter Marks, the company’s CEO, said he was “thrilled” to be able to reopen at full capacity on Monday “without the need for a negative Covid test, which we believe is an obstacle to both customer enjoyment and retention “Would represent industry back on its feet”.

He said reopened nightclubs are operating while the pubs are currently open.

Gavin added, “The report shows that consumers are interested in a responsible approach and will consider Covid-19 safety precautions when planning a night out – such as a night out.

“This shows more than ever that nightclubs can open both safely and responsibly in the current climate and we are pleased to have the UK Government’s approval.”

The report found that 84 percent of teens planned to spend money locally to prepare for going out, with respondents reckoning with an average spend of £ 65.49.

Gavin said: “There is no doubt that the reopening of the Leeds nightlife sector will give the local economy a much-needed boost in terms of revenue and job creation.”
