Man vs. Food comes to Petaluma; Restaurants are struggling with coronavirus surge

Man versus Petaluma Burrito

Although the restaurants themselves were asked not to reveal who was filming at their location, news of a film crew sighting in Petaluma usually spread like wildfire. On Saturday morning, rumors spread about the activities around the Bagel mill and indeed, some regular viewers confirmed that they had seen it Casey Webb, the presenter of television Man vs food. The program usually portrays restaurants with food challenges, but also other local personalities, and this is where the Bagel Mill comes in. Although they don’t currently have any type of Food Challenge menu item, it appears that they will be featured on an upcoming episode of the show.

The following Tuesday the same crew was for Don Panchoswhere they face a challenge menu item while eating – the muy macho burrito. The hotel is located in the Kmart shopping center, between Fru-ta ice cream and CVS, Don Pancho’s menu lists their Macho Burrito ($ 12.99) as “one of our bestselling rice, beans, meat and cheese of your choice, all wrapped in a giant flour tortilla topped with a special sauce, guacamole, sour cream, onions , Tomatoes and coriander. ”As you can imagine, the Muy Macho Burrito ($ 22.99) is more or less the same (“ muy ”means“ a lot ”in Spanish) -“ for the really Muy Macho !!! as above plus double wrapped tortilla and extra portion or meat of your choice … “There is a free t-shirt for anyone who can eat Muy Macho Burrito, but” sorry, not available to share or take away. “

For those who play it safe and eat at home, you can order Don Pancho’s and Bagel Mill via Petaluma food taxi, or through their websites for collection. However, if you are not using PFT’s website to place your order, make sure you are using the actual company website. There are many food order hijacking websites out there. So be wary of doing a Google search and just picking the first search result.

Winter breaks

Una Vida winter break

Lynne Gordon Moquete, Founder of One life, announced last week that the food company is taking January off. “We’re taking January off to honor our volunteers! The amazing Una Vida volunteers / helpers have worked so hard to make sure this Christmas season is as bright as possible for those in our community! Thank you to those of you who use our services and those of you who come and help! To be honest, we prefer it when people start out as recipients and then decide to be helpers too. You are so many! ”Lynne also provided a long list of other local places that those in need of extra food can turn to for help over the next month. You can find this list – in English and Spanish – on Lynne’s Facebook page. You can still donate at www.una-vida.org to support your future endeavors.

Pearl’s winter break

As if they also saw the current COVID-19 situation coming, pearl decided to use the slow time after the vacation to indulge in well-deserved relaxation and regeneration. The restaurant’s hiatus began Tuesday January 11th with plans to return on Thursday January 27th. We are eagerly awaiting her return so we can enjoy her great cassoulets, stews, sandwiches and main courses again, including some of the best fish dishes in town.

This isn’t exactly food news, but I know we foodies tend to panic when we see one of our favorite restaurants go dark, if only temporarily. Keep in mind, however, that most of the world business owners vacation, some in winter, some in summer, and some in both seasons. The US is pretty unique in that we tend to keep our business doors open year round, for better or for worse. I think holidays are a great idea, even if I can’t always take part myself. People work extremely hard, especially in the restaurant business, so a mental, emotional, and physical break is good.

TCP’s winter break

Table culture provisions just announced it will be taking a break as well, but looks like it will only be for the next week or so. The restaurant said on Monday morning on social media, “We have decided to suspend dining service this week to allow our team to rest and stay healthy. We’ll be offering a limited take-away menu this week, Wednesday-Saturday from 5pm to 8pm and Sunday brunch from 10am to 1pm. Thank you for your patience and support. ”With this in mind, Joshua R. Simmons Only posted on social media a day or two ago, which specifically recommended TCP for its take with you. “Shout at tcprovisions who served a delicious brunch today! I am especially grateful that your brunch is packaged in such a way that it is really well received. “
