New “super club” The Lofts opens in Newcastle – and Pete Tong will perform

In August, a new “super club” will open on the former Tiger Tiger site in Newcastle.

The Lofts nightclub on Newgate Street, Newcastle opens on Friday 27th August with an opening night by Pete Tong.

The Lofts say their opening party on a bank holiday weekend in August will be “the Northeast’s largest club opening in a decade.”

The 1,500-seat club, divided into three rooms, replaces Eden, which opened in 2019 after Tiger Tiger closed, but closed a year later.

The Lofts – which will host a groundbreaking sound system and state-of-the-art light and visual show – was founded by directors Rob Seaman, John Dance and Marty Smith, who bring a wealth of nightlife experiences from the Balearic Islands and beyond.

Rob is a former director of Ibiza’s legendary Café Mambo and later was the VIP director for Mallorca Rocks.

He has worked with Tong in his Wonderland Nights and with Swedish House Mafia during their residence in Pacha, Ibiza.

Rob said: “Our aim is to build on the excellent reputation Newcastle already has and continue to raise its profile.

“We book international artists from different genres and can mix the styles in the different rooms on the same evening.

“We will have something for everyone at The Lofts and look forward to welcoming music fans not just from the local area but from across the UK.”

With Tong on The Lofts’ opening night, Horse Meat Disco is a four-person collective: Jim Stanton, James Hillard, Luke Howard and Severino Panzetta who have established their brand as one of the leading names in disco and have had residences in Berlin, New York, London and Lisbon.
