Joe Exotic responds to Carole Baskin’s offer to reduce his sentence
Joe Exotic, a subject of Tiger King, recently received an offer from longtime rival Carole Baskin to reduce his term on one condition and now he has responded.
In a recent interview with Der Spiegel, Baskin’s husband Howard said the couple are ready to offer their support to Exotic if he puts his support behind the Big Cat Public Safety Act and ends tiger breeding.
“If he did that, it could position him positively for a pardon. And honestly, I might be willing to at least demand a reduction in his sentence, “said Howard.
In further comments, Baskin suggested that Exotic “could take on all this fame and become a hero who could save the tiger from extinction”.

Exotic is currently in jail for 22 years for hiring two people to murder Baskin – the owner of Big Cat Rescue with whom he has a year-long feud – as well as eight cases in which he violated the Lacey Act, and Nine Cases He Has Violated Endangered Species Act after killing five tigers and selling others across state lines.
Exotic, who is now 58 years old, suggested that he would be willing to accept their help, but he did so in his own way, especially the Joe Exotic way.
“It’s time for Carole and Howard to shut up for accepting their offer,” Exotic told Entertainment Tonight.
“And I’ll go one step further, OK? It’s time to call President Biden or whoever you need that you have in your little financial pocket and say, ‘Hey, Joe is ready to support a big cat bill, to keep cats safe from exploitation in America, but we have to stick to our end of the deal and apologize to Joe because it wasn’t really about murdering to rent or shooting five tigers – it was about using Joe to support Carole’s agenda. ‘Well, that’s the offer on the table, okay? “
The law on the public safety of big cats, which forbids people to own tigers, lions, leopards and other big cats, in order to put an end to the “petting industry” has been discussed exotic. The bill was returned in December, and the former Tiger King seems to think it won’t help anyone “except PETA and Carole Baskin”.
He said he would be ready to testify if “they want to end big cats in America and want to exploit them”.
He continued, “It’s time to get an attorney general down here and listen to the evidence that I have to prove I am innocent and the hell get me out of here. And they have my support. That being said, they have to stay out of the news with all their crap just to find their name in the papers because I just called their bluff. “
Baskin stands by the offer but said she would not support him if he received a reduced sentence based on his recent comments.
“I think he would say anything but not actually do it,” she replied. “He would actually have to work with the authorities to bring all of his friends to justice, and work with lawmakers to end associating with boys. Then I want him to be rewarded for doing the right thing. “
Last year, Exotic rallied hard to get Donald Trump to apologize for him before stepping down. Nothing came of the effort, however, and Exotic called Trump “Chicken …” because he was only “pardoning people he got into trouble”.
In late January, Exotic shifted its priorities to asking the Biden administration to excuse him.
