Cedrick Guindon was named as the Owen Sound Attack Player-of-the-Week

Guindon is among the league leaders in points with 25

Last week, Guindon had 4 goals and 7 points for the Attack who are on a 3 game win streak

from attackhockey.com

It’s been quite the season for Cedrick Guindon, as the Montreal Canadiens prospect is tied with Deni Goure for the team lead in points, while also being tied for third in league scoring as well. Most of this production coming while the Rockland, ON native has been relatively quiet compared to the flash he displayed last season.

All that changed this past week, as Guindon exploded for 4 goals and 7 points over the Attack’s four game week. That production has earned the 18-year old the Attack Player of the Week.

Guindon opened the week by scoring the lone Attack goal, a shorthanded marker against Kitchener, in what ended as a rough game for Owen Sound. The goal was a sign of a breakout though, as Guindon then added a goal and assist performance the next night against Sarnia, before exploding in a Saturday night tilt with the Erie Otters, where he scored twice, including another shorthanded goal, and added an assist on a beautiful goal by Tomislav Brennan. Though a quieter Sunday game to round out the week, Guindon still picked up an assist on Servac Petrovsky’s hat-trick goal.

Selected by Montreal in the 4th round of the NHL Draft last summer, Guindon has entered this season with Owen Sound with a strong display of on-ice awareness. The young centre has constantly been in good defensive positions, which has allowed him to use his speed and puck skills in transition, making him a much more dangerous threat than what he showed in his 59 point rookie season.

Now sitting with 25 points in just 18 games this season, the question for Guindon becomes what milestone he hits first, 100 games played (sitting at 86) or 100 career points (currently with 84), as the dynamic centre has shown his ability to be one of the best players on the ice each game.
