The 1980s and 1990s arguably represent the peak of the Japanese car industry, as far as enthusiasts are concerned. This era saw the start, revival or reinvention of a host of iconic nameplates – GT-R, Impreza WRX, Supra, NSX, MR2, MX-5 and RX-7 – plus a host of upstart luxury brands designed to take on the German established.
Alex Misoyannis has been writing about cars since 2017, when he started his own website, Redline.
